Festival Fashion

Hey guys! I am going to V festival in August with a couple of friends and my brother and sister, I am so excited! So I thought I would do a festival fashion post to give some ideas as to what I suggest people wear at festivals. I am not an expert but I went to Leeds festival last year and so I have an idea as to what to wear, and what not to wear!

A Sunny Day

Here you can find the above items: dress, cardigan, wellies and necklace.

I chose the floral dress as I thought it would look beautiful and summery for any hot days at a festival and is both stylish and functional. It is not too short so you could still jump around and dance to the music but a reasonable length to show off those pins! I chose a lightweight cardigan from H&M because it will keep those arms covered up to prevent sunburn (essential for any fair skinned ladies) and also will ensure you aren't affected by that 'evening chill' when the sun goes down and the temperature drops.

On a sunny day, you might not think you would need to wear wellies to a festival if you haven't been to one before but trust me- I wouldn't wear any other types of shoes! (That is unless you are going somewhere lovely and warm e.g. Coachella, but here in Britain you can't get away with anything else!) Whether sunny or raining, there is usually a LOT of mud at British festivals and you don't want to ruin your best shoes. I chose this beautiful necklace from Oasis as I think it would finish off the outfit perfectly and would contrast nicely with the dress.

A Rainy Day

Here you can find the above items: top,  hotpants, parkawellies and earrings.

As you might be able to tell I absolutely LOVE floral prints! I think they just highlight the season and are perfect for summer wear. The top I chose from Urban Outfitters is absolutely gorgeous, it's more like a blouse/top combined and I love the cut out shoulders. In the heat of a festival atmosphere this will be lovely and floaty but the parka I have chosen from ASOS will be brilliant if it is raining. I chose these gorgeous bargain wellies from Office for only £10!! I thought they would look great with the top and hotpants combo.

Finally I chose these hoop earrings from Topshop as I love the simplicity of them and didn't want to overpower the outfit with anything else going on. I also decided not to add a necklace as I think the top doesn't need any extra embellishment.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and liked the two outfits. What are your festival wardrobe staples?

Are any of you going to a festival this year? :)

Floral Nail Art Tutorial

Want to find out how to create a nail art look like the one above? Keep reading!

L-R Barry M Spring Green, Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Greenberry, Rio Nail Art Pen White, Opi Big Apple Red, Rio Nail Art Pen Dark Green, Elf Clear and Elf Flirty Fuschia
Firstly, paint the nails with the colour of your choice. I have used Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail paint in Greenberry and painted with two coats to ensure a no-streaky coverage.

I then used the white nail art pen to create long stripes across the nail. You could use any nail art pen or a nail art brush with any white nail polish. Using the pink nail polish, I drew little irregular circles along the outside of my nail which will form the flowers. Again, you could use any pink shade you have in your make-up kits so long as you have a darker shade to go over the top to form the 'petals'.

Using a bright candy apple red I then used my nail art dotting tool to draw little lines along the outside of the pink circles and a dot in the centre. You should see the flowers coming together now :)

You can see in the picture below my dotting tools. I purchased these from Amazon which you can find here and I find them extremely useful in all of my nail art. For under £2 you can't really complain. Using my dotting tool, I draw little triangles on the outside of the flowers using Barry M's Spring Green. This forms the leaves.

I then take my Rio nail art pen in dark green to draw a little line on the spring green leaf. This finishes off the look and gives dimension to the flowers, as you can see below.

Here is the finished look! You could apply a clear nail polish like I have done to improve longevity of the nails or a top coat if you prefer.

I hope you enjoyed this nail art tutorial! Please comment below and if you liked it, I will do more!

Summer Favourites!

I thought I would make a blog post about my summer favourites beauty-wise seeing as it has been such lovely weather in the UK, so here it is!

Starting off with the face, I absolutely adore Clinique's Moisture Surge Intense for a moisturiser. I have quite oily skin which when post washed becomes extremely dry in my T-zone. This is perfect as it doesn't make my skin too greasy which would make my oily skin worse and more prone to acne, instead it hydrates my skin and makes it feel lovely and soft. I would recommend this to nearly any skin type as it is VERY moisturising therefore could possibly suit dry skin too.

Foundation wise, I would use Mac's Studio Fix Fluid (also mentioned in a previous blog post here) which when blended out with a stipple brush melts into my skin easily and provides a buildable coverage that looks very natural. It also has an SPF 15 which obviously helps prevent sunburn on my face thus I don't end up with a bright red nose and forehead from sunbathing!

My new go-to blush is one by Elf in the shade 'Glow'. To say I paid £2.50 for this bad boy, I absolutely love it! You can see swatched on my finger it is a beautiful shimmery peach colour which is perfect for this season. It highlights my cheekbones and gives me a lovely glow (i.e. does what it says on the tin!). I would 100% recommend this to anybody as I think it would compliment every skin tone.

I have had this Urban Decay palette for many years now. It was actually the first eyeshadow palette I ever bought, and I still use it to this day! (Don't ask me how it has lasted so long, maybe I have just used it sparingly? Haha!) I believe it is called the Deluxe Shadow Box and originally came with a little Urban Decay Primer Potion. As you can see from the below picture 'Scratch' is my favourite shade. It is a lovely peachy-pink colour which is shimmery and blends beautifully with other shadows. I think this is the perfect shade for summer as it can be worn alone with mascara or with liquid eyeliner over the top to make the eyes 'pop', which is usually how I wear it. I would recommend it to people with green-brown-hazel eyes as I think they suit neutral colours best, however for blue-grey eyes I would recommend a more silver toned eyeshadow than gold, personally I just think this is the best combo.

I know I have mentioned Benefit's They're Real mascara in a few blog posts (here and my YouTube video here) and have previously been unsure on this, however with more and more practice I feel it is working better as I know the best way to apply it now and it actually makes my eyelashes look lovely and long. The issue still stands however in the way I do feel my eyelashes have lost condition since using this, but as I am a cheapskate and I paid ~$22 I will continue to use this until it is empty. I feel it works best when used in conjunction with an eyelash curler like the one pictured below.

For nail paint, I would wear Essie in the shade 'Waltz' as I think white is a staple for every girl's summer make-up bag. It makes a tan stand out so much better when worn in summer and also can help fairer skinned ladies look a little more tanned too. I have also chosen Benefit's Bathina as another summer favourite because I think it is the perfect highlighter for the entire body. I usually wear this on my calves, tops of my thighs, collar bone and arms.

As you can see in this swatch the Bathina formula is very creamy and has an iridescent pearl colour which helps to reflect light in the areas you want to highlight. The creamy texture means it is extremely easy to blend into the skin and as an extra plus, smells amazing!!

My final summer favourite is Mac's Turquatic perfume. I bought this as a last minute purchase on my holiday in New York in April. If you haven't smelled this perfume, you NEED to go out and find a sample to try! It is honestly one of my all-time favourite scents and is wearable both for a fresh day time scent and a sultry going out scent. The perfume is said to have notes of Anemone, Lotus, Orris and Corsican Blue Cedar. I don't have a clue what most of those are but it smells divine in any case!

I hope you enjoyed reading my post, what are your top summer favourites at the moment? Have any of you tried Turquatic?

Passionate about Polka Dots

Hey guys! Thought I would change it up a bit and do a fashion post. I do love Summer shopping!

The outfit I am currently crushing on is the Fred Perry Daisy & Polka Dot Print Dress. I am loving the laurel wreath collection at the minute as I think there are some beautiful pieces! This dress has a gorgeous black collar and belt which will highlight the polka dots/daisies and cinch in the waist which is what I always look for in dresses. I prefer clothes which highlight the figure as sometimes drapey/loose fitted clothing can make me personally look like a sack of potatoes!

I would pair this with a pretty black bowler hat, such as the one from H&M shown below:
A bag from the beautiful new 'ladylike bag' collection at ASOS, which could both be hand held and worn across the body such as this:

I think this outfit would look amazing with crocheted socks (which funnily enough remind me of primary school and days in the summer sun!) such as these from Topshop:

Paired with a lovely pair of bright coloured wedges like these also from Topshop:

I adore these shoes and I think they would look amazing both dressed up for a night out on holiday in the warm summer nights or worn with denim high waisted shorts, a pretty white blouse and some statement jewellery.

What do you guys think of the Fred Perry Laurel Wreath Collection?
What outfits are you currently crushing on?

Hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

5/2 Diet!!

Hello everyone!
I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, been busy with University then been home and spending time with family and friends.

So much to catch up on!
Got my results a couple of weeks ago and I ended up with a 2:1 in my first year! Which of course I am extremely proud of :).

My best friend who moved over to Australia has come to visit! So lots of shopping sessions are to be had! I also had a massive ELF haul last week which I will post about shortly.

I have decided after I have watched this chubby belly get bigger and bigger over the past few months that I am going to kick start a change.

My dad has been on this 5/2 diet for the past year and lost nearly a stone! You basically eat healthily like you would on any other diet for 5 days of the week (1500-2000 calories) then for 2 days of the week you eat less that 600 calories, so in effect fasting. I will combine this with at least a half an hour run/an hour bike ride EVERY SINGLE DAY *gulp* which will hopefully make me more disciplined and more inclined to carry on!

I will soon post some 'before' pictures (if I am feeling brave) then some 'after' pictures in 3 months to enable others to see my progress.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I'm sorry I haven't blogged for a long while but I will hopefully keep it up now I have a lot of free time :)

Thank you!

Emily
