Is it possible to be in love with an eyeshadow palette? Stila In The Light

Hello everyone! I know I have lagged in my blogging a little but hopefully I'll be back up posting more again :) I had laryngitis and am only just recovering, but I will also have a new video up soon!

So the product I want to rave about today is the Stila In The Light palette (used in my make up tutorial here). I first spotted this on Zoella's blog a while back and asked for it for my 19th birthday back in February. I am so glad I got it! It is literally my favourite palette EVER! I never got onto the Naked palette hype and think this is a perfect replacement. There is a good mixture of matte and shimmer shades which can be used for a natural eye or a more dramatic smoky eye.

The matte shades are beautiful and apply on the lid like butter (not actual butter, that would be gross, but very smoothly!) while the shimmer shades are so soft and easy to blend with either your fingers or a brush, depending on while you prefer. As you can see from the picture above my favourite shades are Bare, Kitten, Bliss and Gilded Gold because I don't think I suit extremely heavy make-up and prefer the more natural tones however on occasion I would use all the shades. The other point which drew me to this palette is the lovely Smudgestick that comes along with it. Stila Smudgesticks are absolutely amazing and stay put however you want them for the whole day whilst being completely waterproof, and also comes in a gorgeous dark brown shade which I think suits any eye colour/skin tone.

I apologise for the reduced picture quality here but my camera died *sad face*

To say you are only paying £25 for 10 eyeshadow shades as well as a Smudgestick worth £14 it is unbelievable price and quality. You can find this palette from numerous retailers but mine was bought from Feelunique.

Thank you very much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!

And I hope I persuaded you to buy it ;)

Autumn/Winter Beauty Wishlist

Hello again fellow bloggers!
I haven't blogged since last week as after my anniversary I went to V festival and since then everything has just been hectic with University and a driving test! (Which I inadvertently failed. I honestly think I should just give up and ride my dogs around hahaha).

Like this? ;) I am clearly the best photoshop editor ever!

Anyway! Back to the actual intended post haha. So this is my wishlist for the coming Autumn/Winter season.

1. Benefit High Beam
Now I am an avid Benefit make up user and I know this is an old classic, but I have never actually had it. It is just one of those products where I have always wanted others more, however now I really want to get in on the hype. I have seen it's highlighting properties from reviews on blogs and it looks absolutely amazing! It really does give you the model 'luminous dewy look' which I really desire. When I next have money to spare this will definitely be my first purchase and I shall definitely do a review/swatch post.

2. Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Booster
Beauty bloggers all over the world have been raving about this product for a while now and I really would like to try this product. For those of you who must have been living under a shell not to know what this is, basically these savvy-minded geniuses have come up with a face cream that contains hyaluronic acid which penetrates the skin for optimum hydration. This beautiful little molecule can hold up to 1000 times it's weight in water which apparently has been clinically proven to provide "an increase in elasticity of up to 27% and a decrease in surface roughness by as much as 10%" by attracting water in the air to your skin almost like a magnet. It has so far had rave reviews and although I have combination-oily skin, I do have an extremely dry forehead and cheeks so hopefully this would sort my problem out. If you think this miracle worker can't get any better, it is currently on sale in Boots (!!!!) reduced from £24.99 to £16.66. If you haven't been persuaded to try it out by now, I don't know what else I can say!

3. Mac Lipstick in See Sheer
I only have a couple of Mac lipsticks however the ones I do own, I absolutely love! I also adore sheer lipsticks as they can be worn lightly for a slight tint or layered for a really dramatic lip, and this ticks all the boxes. From the swatches I have seen this colour is an absolutely beautiful coral toned red lipstick which is a gorgeous berry crush colour. This is definitely on my to-buy list as I think the best colours for Autumn/Winter are dark and rich coloured reds, compared to Summer when I think bright reds and pink lips are in.

4. Origins Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil
This is another product I have seen reviewed online and have been impressed by people's opinions on it. I am an avid reader of Caroline Hirons' blog and she implicitly talks about how bad mineral oils are for your skin which are found in many cleansers which can clog up your pores and make oily skin even oilier. This cleanser doesn't contain any mineral oils and although is on the higher end (compared to Simple or Olay) it would most definitely be worth the price for the care you get. As another bonus it completely removes all traces of make-up so I could skip that step in my skincare routine!

5. Mac Nail Lacquer in Deep Sea
I have been eyeing up this nail polish for a while now but couldn't bring myself to spend £11 on it, therefore it is still in my beauty wish list. This deep emerald blue-green shade is PERFECT for Autumn/Winter and will look beautiful worn alone on the nails. Perhaps this will have to be a purchase when I have some spare cash :) and have a little splurge.

6. Narciso Rodriguez For Her
I had a whiff of this perfume a while back in New York and it was a decision between either buying this or Mac's Turquatic (which smelled amazing too!) so I ended up getting the Mac one. I now however am running low on that so this is definitely my next perfume purchase. If you haven't smelled it yet, get down to your local Boots or Selfridges and try it! It is an absolutely GORGEOUS scent which is described as having "Top notes of rose and peach. Heart: amber and musk. Base: patchouli and sandalwood." and is a very sexy, night time scent.

I hope you enjoyed this latest post. Do you own any of the above items on my wish list? Does anyone disagree? What products are on your wishlist? :)

Thank you for reading guys!

4 Years Anniversary with the Boy!

Hello again everyone!

Just thought I would do a little personal post today and let you all know that it was mine and Daryl's 4 year anniversary yesterday! I had an absolutely lovely night :D

I wanted to do something romantic and special so I decided to cook us a meal. For starter I made Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wings on a packet of 10 chicken wings I bought from Tesco which were absolutely delicious and crispy! All you do if you want to make them is marinate them in the sauce overnight then pop them in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes/a little longer if you want the skin crispy. Easy!

Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Review/Before and After Pictures- LOVE this stuff!

Hello everybody! Since my last mascara post was so negative and critical of Benefit's They're Real, I have found a saving grace!!! Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl.

Before popping into boots the other day I had never seen this Dior mascara before. I have heard of the Dior Iconic and Dior Extase but not the Overcurl version, and as soon as I saw the curved brush the sales lady had already sold the mascara to me. I must admit it was quite difficult parting with £23 but because I was so disappointed with the Benefit one and I desperately needed a new mascara, I did. I am SO glad I bit the bullet and bought it!

Happy happy!

Moroccanoil: Worth the Hype?

I have been using my trial sized set of Moroccanoil for about 3 days now, and can honestly say this has been my hair saviour.
I have heard of using argan oil before in many different blog posts but didn't think this one little oil could make such a difference to my hair.

This particular brand of argan oil says that it can speed up drying time, repairs the hair by transporting lost proteins and reduce the amount of splitting/breakages of hair. This is a pretty bold statement to make however I actually have to say I think it will live up to expectations!

5 Minute Mani- Summer Nail Wrap Tutorial

Hello lovely people! I thought I would do a really simple nail art tutorial that doesn't require any tools or special brushes, just any three gradient colour you like! It is extremely summery and perfect for holidays or festivals.

I chose a light pastel yellow, a pretty orange and a deep red to recreate those beautiful summer sunsets on holiday :). Start off by painting your nails with the lightest colour you are using.

Paint one corner to tip of your nails in the next darkest shade you are using. They can all go the same way or you can change up the direction- entirely up to you!

Finally with the darkest shade you have chosen paint another triangle from the opposite corner to the opposite tip. This creates the 'wrap' effect. You should be able to see all three colours.

And here is the finished effect!
I hope you enjoyed this very simple nail tutorial! It is so easy to do yet looks very effective :). Don't worry if your lines aren't perfectly straight, mine never are, all you can do it try your best! They will look lovely however straight your diagonal lines are.

If anybody tries this out please show me on Twitter! My username is @emmmilythinks :) I would love to see how they turn out!

In The Spotlight

Hello everyone! Today I thought I would do a post of products I have loved and think deserve a place 'In The Spotlight' for all the beauty bloggers out there who are lovely enough to read my blog :).

Firstly is Benefit's Erase Paste. I absolutely adore this product and would repurchase again and again! I have it in the second shade Medium however I have used it on many of my friends when doing makeovers with fairer skin and it is fine. I would buy the lightest shade if you are extremely fair skinned with blonde/auburn hair as I know it is difficult to get away with darker shades with those skin types.

I actually think this is the best concealer I have ever used. I use it both under my eyes and on any blemishes/discoloured patches on my face and it conceals them perfectly. It blends into my skin so well it actually disappears! I actually only have the smaller size sample from the Confessions of a Concealaholic kit but it has lasted me about 18 months, which is crazy! Such a good purchase. It retails at £19.50 which I think for 18 months use (nearly every day) is amazing.

Here you can see the shade swatched against my skin

Cupcake Nail Art Tutorial

Want to find out how to create a really simple nail art look like the one above? Keep reading!

Below you will find the products I am going to be using.

L-R Artstix Duo Snow Mix, Models Own Banana Split and Blueberry Muffin, Elf Mango Madness and Flirty Fuschia
Firstly I am going to start off by painting my nails white. If you find it difficult not to get nail polish all over your fingers, don't worry about it! I am exactly the same and I just take a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover over the areas I want to get rid of afterwards.

I then took Elf's Flirty Fuschia with my dotting tool to create a cupcake 'case' effect as you can see in the second picture.

I then started to create the cupcake sprinkles by again using a thinner dotting tool and drawing hundreds and thousands shapes over the white (remember eating those on ice creams as a kid? Mmmm!)

Using the next pastel colour I drew more sprinkles on my nails. They can be as regular or as irregular as you like, whatever floats your boat!

For an extra splash of colour I used the same technique to apply orange sprinkles with Elf's Mango Madness.

And here is the finished product!

These nails are extremely easy to do and you could mix and match with any colours you like! I hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial as much as I enjoy making them :).

15 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me

Hello again! I thought I would do a bit more of a personal post so you can find out a little more about me and my everyday life, with a few pictures to go along :).

1. I have 2 siblings, an older sister called Tiffany and an older brother called Michael.
Tiff, Michael and Me some years ago :)
 2. My Mum and Dad are the best! They have always supported me in everything I do and I know I can count on them both for anything :).
I love my 'rents! Do you think I look like either of them haha?!

3. I have the two most gorgeous, loving, affectionate little doggies ever! They are both such characters and they make me laugh so much! Jasper is a Bedlington Terrier and Jessie is a Whippet/Bedlington Terrier/Greyhound but looks mainly like a whippet!

Look at those faces! Jasper on the left, Jessie on the right

 4. I have a best friend who I've known for about 7 years now called Olivia who I love to bits! She is absolutely hilarious and people tell us all the time that we act the same/have the same mannerisms. I guess that's why we've stayed friends for so long! She also has a lovely blog which you can find here.

 5. I have an absolutely AMAZING boyfriend called Daryl, we have been together 4 years in a couple of weeks :O it's crazy. Doesn't feel that long haha! He is brilliant :)

Here's an old picture of us back in 2010 :) we look so young!
 6. I couldn't live without music. Some of my favourite artists are Paramore (I have a HUGE girl crush on Hayley Williams!), Foo Fighters, Tenacious D, Slipknot, The Vaccines, McFly, Arctic Monkeys, The Specials etc etc... I could go on forever haha!

7. I paint my nails nearly everyday as I don't like them being the same for too long!

8. I have visited many different places abroad. I've travelled all around Europe and have been to Australia and America. I really would love to go to Africa!

9. I can speak very basic French.

10. I would rather have nice makeup than nice hair.

11. I have an obsession with buying things, and as a result I am extremely bad with money!

12. I also have an obsession with Disney/Disney Pixar. I know all the words to every song in nearly every Disney film haha! *saddo*

13. I never take myself seriously. I am not a girl who cannot leave the house without make-up, I always make a fool out of myself and I don't mind making myself look stupid for the comedy value! *insert picture of me working in a sweet shop being the only person wearing antlers for Christmas*

14. I would much rather sit in with my boyfriend eating a takeaway curry watching horror films than go out drinking/partying. I am a pretty boring teenager haha!

15. My favourite film of all time is This Is The End. It has all my favourite actors in who star in the same kinds of films (Superbad, Pineapple Express, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek, Knocked Up and Zach and Miri Make a Porno). Love it!

I hope you enjoyed reading this very personal post and comment if you have any pets or agree with any of the statements I've made!

Liebster Award!

Liebster Award

Hello Everybody! So the lovely and kind Stephanie from MerryMusing nominated for my very first blog award, the Liebster Award! For those of you who haven't heard of it before, it is a way to help spread word about new up and coming blogs with less than 200 followers via bloggers nominating other bloggers. The word Liebster is German and means kindest, sweetest, nicest which I think is very sweet!

The rules are:
  1. You have to answer the 10 questions that your nominator gave you
  2. You then have to nominate 10 bloggers who have under 200 followers and link them in the post
  3. Come up with 10 new questions for the nominees to answer
  4. Finally, inform the nominees so they can do their responses
So the questions from the lovely Stephanie are:

1. What are your three favourite online shopping websites?
This is tough, but if I had to narrow it down it would be ASOS, Eyes Lips Face (ELF) and Feel Unique. I so wish ASOS had an actual high street store! Maybe us BBloggers and FBloggers should campaign for them to have one? Haha!

What are your five can't live without beauty products?
Mac's Studio Fix Fluid, Topshop Lipstick in Infrared, Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer Potion, Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette and Benefit's Erase Paste.

What's your biggest achievement?
I think my biggest achievement has to be my 2:1 result for my first year of University. I was so proud!

What's your best beauty discovery?
A really lovely cleansing balm by Champneys which is such a steal. For the price of £13 it is nearly as good as a high end cleansing balm such as the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm which retails for nearly £40. You can find this super cleanser here.

What or who inspires you?
My Mum. Don't get me wrong, I love my Dad to bits and he knows I do, however after knowing everything my mum has been through in her life and where she has got to now, it is impossible to not look up to her as an inspiration.

What is your favourite beauty brand?
This is extremely tough but taking into account price, quality and packaging, I have to say Benefit. I love the 50's glamour feel of the packaging/branding, the products themselves are amazing quality and although it is a pricier brand, I feel you are not ripped off by the price.

What made you start blogging?
Seeing other beauty bloggers blossom into fully fledged and sought after inspirations for others like myself. I read Zoella's blog right from the start, as well as the beautiful Sprinkle of Glitter but was always too shy to start writing a blog of my own. Then at the start of this year I just thought why not? Lets go for it!

Which blogger has been your biggest influence?
Zoella for definite :)

How often do you blog?
As often as I can! Sometimes I do a few posts in a few days, other times I blog every other week. I am trying to regulate the posts however so I can have a new post up every couple of days to keep my readers interested.

What advice would you give to other bloggers?
Don't expect your blog to be massive over night if that's what you want, for some people it takes years and you should take every single follower as a compliment that that person wants to read your blog. Don't blog just to get sent free PR samples as this does not happen to many people, so don't set yourself up for a disappointment. DO blog because it is what you love, and what you want to talk about.

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers and found out a little more about me!

The 10 bloggers I would like to nominate are:

  1. If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
  2. If you could only use 1 brand of beauty for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  3. Straighteners or curlers?
  4. Foundation or tinted moisturiser?
  5. Favourite high street brand?
  6. One lipstick you couldn't live without?
  7. If you had to describe yourself as an animal, what would you be?
  8. Favourite high end make-up brand and why?
  9. What is the wackiest hair colour you've ever had?
  10. What is your make-up Summer staple?

Thank you again for nominating me! To all my nominees, I hope you enjoy answering my questions and I look forwards to reading your responses!
