The Sunshine Award

Hellooo again! So I have been nominated by the lovely Isabel from I Is For Iz for The Sunshine Award, which helps followers get to know a little about you with some random facts. So here we go!

The rules:

1. Display the award.
2. Say "thank you" to the wonderful person that nominated you.   THANK YOU ISABEL ;)
3. Share 10 interesting things about yourself.
4. Nominate some of your favourite blogs.
5. Link to the nominated blogs, and share the news with them!

1. I have never had chicken pox. If I was to catch it now, there is a high chance I would have it in the form of shingles :|

2. Growing up I always wanted to be a Vet because I love animals, but have recently decided to train to be a Primary School Teacher.

3. I have a talent for pulling the ugliest face you have ever seen, mwahaha! If someone requests a picture then I will show you, but until then.. I think it's best you don't see.

4. I am bordering on having an obsession with Paramore. They are just the best band ever! I can listen to every single album and never get bored.

5. I work in a pub as a barmaid therefore I have TOP BANTER. yeah right

6. When I'm in my car, I love driving around with Fleetwood Mac on full blast singing my head off!

7. I don't like sounding narcissistic but I actually think I can be funny sometimes. You'll have to ask my close friends about that one! Maybe everyone is laughing at me not with me...

8. I am SUCH a big kid! I absolutely love climbing trees, going on swings, bike rides, rolling in mud; anything which involves me running around like a loon!

9. I am extremely sociable. I manage to strike up random conversations with just about anybody and I feel like everyone should make an effort to do things for other people! Even if you have never met someone before, just smiling at them might be the difference between them feeling lonely and down or them thinking it is lovely of someone to smile at them!

10. I am a bit of a quitter. I'm not as bad any more, but especially when I was younger I had a bad habit of starting a new hobby, spending loads of money on it then getting disinterested. I think it's because I have a bit of an addictive personality eeek. I have owned guitars, a drum kit, a piano, taken Karate lessons, Tae Kwon Do lessons, sailing lessons, etc etc... I'm sorry!

Wow that was a lot harder than it looked! I hope you all enjoyed reading and I nominate:
YOU!

I hope you can all manage to do it, and please let me know so I can read them! :)

Super Smooth Legs

Are you tired of having a pair of prickly cacti for legs? Do you wish you could see your reflection in your pins? Fear not! I have come up with the perfect formula for beautifully smooth legs.

So to start with, you're going to need a good exfoliating scrub such as the one I've chosen here from Lush called Rub Rub Rub. This is to slough away all those dead skin particles and it needs to be particularly gritty to ensure for a proper exfoliation. Rub Rub Rub contains sea salt so this is absolutely perfect but also moisturisers to make sure the skin isn't dried out.

Because later on you will be using baby oil to shave your legs, I would recommend doing this by straddling a sink as baby oil can be quite dangerous in the shower (it makes the floor really slippy). Equally you could just prop your leg on the side of the bath, I just like to show off my athletic ability (ahem).

I promise I'm not diseased
So now you have washed away those dead skin cells (NICE) it's time for the baby oil. Obviously any kind of baby oil is fine to use and if you were really desperate you could probably even use olive oil, this just would smell horrible on your legs. Instead baby oil makes them smell like talc! Squeeze a good measure into the palm of your hand and rub this onto your whole leg. The beauty of baby oil is that it sort of stays on the skin and emulsifies, providing a perfect surface for your razor to work on.

Shave against the grain
Finally, once you have shaved and rinsed your legs once more to get rid of any rogue hairs you can get to the moisturising stage. Again, this is a step where you can pretty much use any kind of body butter or moisturiser. I have chosen the new Vaseline Spray and Go moisturiser as I hate the feeling of sticky legs with other moisturisers (can I say moisturiser any more times?!) so this just sinks straight into my skin and allows me to get changed straight away. I really love the Cocoa Radiant version as it smells DELICIOUS and the added cocoa butter helps my dry skin.

So there we have it! You now have legs so smooth that dolphins will be jealous.

I hope you enjoyed this slightly different post! If you would like to see any more like this then let me know!

Lush Big Shampoo - Review

Hello lovelies! Today I really wanted to review a product I purchased recently from Lush that I would now consider one of my HG products (yes, that good already.) I have tried some of the solid shampoo bars from there previously and would not recommend them as I just couldn't get them to work for me.

THIS however.

Oh, you.

I can honestly say I have never used such a refreshing, revitalising and delicious-smelling product that was so good for my hair before. My hair is extremely dry through excessive use of  hair dye/bleach/heat over the years but also becomes greasy very quickly due to my oily scalp mmm delicious.

In short, this salty scrub for your hair combats all of those things. It does feel really weird at first, rubbing what feels like gritty sand into your hair, but you get used to it and once water is added it lathers up nicely. The scent as I described before is also wonderful! I have previously used Rub Rub Rub (also by Lush) in my hair which does a similar thing to Big, except it has a bit of a toilet bleach kind of citrus smell which you may not want wafting around in your hair. Big is described as having neroli, mandarin, orange flower absolute and vanilla as the fragrance and I can tell you this stuff is ADDICTIVE. All I can explain the scent as without the fancy lingo is like a juicy orange/lime hybrid fruit (or lorange) that has been squeezed into a vat of vanilla pudding and mixed by a coconut flavour spoon. Honestly.

So aside from describing the product, what does it actually do?
Well my friends, it transforms your once lank, greasy weave into a bouncing voluminous wig that Beyonce would be proud to wear. My hair feels so moisturised and hydrated (without being greasy) and I would recommend this to anyone who wants their hair to be thickened slightly as it is amazing for that too. I'm not sure of the science behind this stuff but for some reason my hair also finds itself being less greasy a few days after washing, meaning that I don't have to wash my hair every single day. RESULT!

The dreaded 'before' picture..

After! Gleaming, shiny hair.

So ladies! I really hope I have inspired you to try this little miracle worker and you must let me know what you think of it yourselves! I wouldn't recommend using this every single time you wash your hair as I feel like the salt may build up after a while, so I would say to use a clarifying shampoo every 2 days just to make sure it works it's magic each and every time you wash with it.

Ta ta for now!

Little Get To Know Me Tag!

Helloooo again!

I thought as a little side order I would let you get to know me a bit better. Not that you definitely want to, but I can try, hahaha! I hope you enjoy reading this post and finding out a little bit more about the 'person behind the blog'.

1. What’s your favourite way to style your hair?
It really depends. At the minute, I have grown out my side fringe and have sort of turned it into a middle parting/John Lennon style. Before I would have said curly, but now I think it makes my head look an odd shape when I curl my hair! So at the minute, especially with it being ombre'd at the ends I would have to say poker straight. It makes the colour stand out so much better. I also like to blow dry my grown out fringe on each side so it's 'poofy', like this...
Much easier just to add a picture!
2. What’s that one movie that you could re-watch over and over again?
I have quite a lot of films I could rewatch over and over but it really depends on my mood. Usually I would say either Superbad, Pineapple Express or This Is The End. They both have my all time favourite actors in and I just love them! My humour summed up in a film (or three). But I am also a HUGE Disney fan (sorry not sorry) so I could also rewatch any of the classic Disney films!
3. Do you have any pets?? I wanna hear all about them!
You must be new here if you don't know about my pets haha, I have two beautiful doggies called Jasper and Jessie! Jasper is a Bedlington terrier who is going to be 4 in February and we got him when he was a wee puppy at 10 weeks. We actually travelled all the way to Port Talbot in Wales to get the rascal! He was such a good boy in the car on the 5 hour journey home though (which might have been helped by the stop off at a service station where he was bribed with some Burger King chips haha.. I think this might have been when he realised what a cushty life he was in for!). We got Jasper shortly after my first dog Poppy was sadly run over :(. I was absolutely devastated, we had only had her for 6 months but had already grown SO attached. Therefore when we lost her it felt like such a loss to not have a wet nose greeting us everytime we came home, or a wagging tail at the window. Getting Jasper did help me try to stay strong but it was still so, so difficult. He was like our little fluffy ray of sunshine in a dark gloomy time.
Poppy RIP xxxx
We then, after a couple of years of pleading, decided to take one of my Uncle's dog's puppies (Whippet/Bedlington Terrier/Labrador Cross) who was the only brindle baby out of 8! She was also a twin pup :) which I think is amazing considering the fact that animals can have twins too. That was Jessie! She is going to be 2 in September and they are the cheekiest dogs in the world! Here are a couple of then/now pictures of them too..
Jasper as a puppy!
Don't worry, he hasn't aged suddenly.. This is a characteristic of his breed! Now a white fluffball!
Jessie as a puppy, extremely cute! She definitely grew into those massive bat ears (and actually got a bit longer I think!)
Jessie now! She looks petrified because I was trying to take a nice picture of her and she hates my DSLR hahaha!

4. What’s on your nails right now? Nothing…what polish is due to be applied next?
At the minute I have done a tartan design using nail art pens (which you might be able to spot in my video) using OPI Big Apple Red, Rio Nail Art Pens in White and Green and a NYC Colour Nail Art Pen in black.
5. What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
I love the whole blogging community. I think it's amazing that people take the time to read other people's hard thought out blogs, just like I love to do, and we all support/help each other. I also just love getting my opinion out there. The fact that I know people read my ramblings makes me feel special! Whether it is 1 person or 10, I still appreciate each and every person who reads it.
6. Bold eyes or Bold lips?
Oooo this is difficult, but I have to say bold eyes! Just because I always think my eyes look unfinished without eyeliner on, even if it's just a little bit, so I would have to go for eyes. I do love my bold/bright lipsticks though!
7. If you could only blog about one brand’s products, which brand would it be?
Wow this is really tough! It would have to be.... Ermmm.... Oh gosh this is difficult. *deep breath* I am going to have to say Mac. I love so many other brands but Mac has to take the finish line because I drool over the lipsticks, eyeshadows and brushes. You just can't beat the high quality.
8. Your most loved/used product.
I'm going to have to say my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. I suffer from really dark undereye circles which I am extremely self concious about, and I don't think I could see my boyfriend if I couldn't conceal them! I really do look like a haggard old witch haha!
9. Would you rather have forever flawless skin and not be able to wear any other makeup or never being able to wear a base (foundation, BB cream) but being able to wear eyeshadow, mascara, blush, eyeliner, lipstick, etc?
Oh gosh this is another tough one. I'm going to have to say flawless skin! I always think people look the best when they are naturally beautiful anyway. I would definitely miss wearing the other make up but I would love to just be able to go out anywhere with the most flawless skin!
10. The one think you hate about applying makeup.
How time consuming it is. Don't get me wrong, I love love love it but it just takes up so much time! Even to do my everyday natural make up it takes me a good half hour, so to do anything spectacular it can take anything up to an hour/an hour and a half which is crazy!

Well I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post anyway, and enjoyed getting to know me more!
I feel this song is very appropriate..

You have to love a little bit of Julie Andrews! And The King and I. Such a brilliant film!

TTFN, ta ta for now!

My Everyday Make Up Routine

Hello everyone! I have made a new YouTube video. One of my 'New Years Resolutions' or things I wanted to do for this year was upload more videos, so I am trying to! *hint hint there will be another one coming VERY soon..*

I hope you like this one! You'll have to ignore the ugly bare face hahaha! I understand if you need to cover your eyes for the first couple of minutes of the video...

Speak to you all soon my lovelies :)

Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014!

Now I'm not one of those people who makes New Years Resolutions every single year, as most people never actually stick to them and they just end up being pointless.

HOWEVER.

I think this year may actually be the first where I make resolutions and actually try to stick to them! 2013 was a good year for me for the majority. Even though University was getting me down a little, I got through it with my friend Emily and we had lots of laughs along the way. I also visited New York for the second time which was absolutely amazing! I went with my parents as well as my sister this time so we had lots of fun :) and did a lot of shopping as you can imagine!

We also went ice skating at the Rockerfella Centre which was amazing!
Summer soon came around which meant that I got to spend a lot of time with my boyfriend, family and friends which was such a lovely break from Uni. So lovely that I never went back, haha! I also landed myself a weekend job at a local pub where I still do the occasional shift now, I absolutely love it! My best friend Olivia also works there so you can imagine how much of a laugh we have together. I then took the leap to drop out of Uni and got a job at a jewellers which has been brilliant, but now that's finished so I need to find another job at the minute.

More highlights of this year have been:

♥ My 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend
♥ The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Sounds sad but I love it!!)
♥ V Festival!
♥ Buying my first MAC eyeshadows
♥ The new season of American Horror Story (again I know it sounds sad but it has been amazing!)

Now it's time for what I want to achieve this year..

  • Definitely drink more water. During the winter I seem to have developed extremely dry/dehydrated sin which I feel is related to the lack of water in my diet. This is one I really need to stick to!
  • Join the gym. I know this is one of those resolutions which everyone rolls their eyes at as not many people stick to it, but I genuinely want to have a health kick and visit the gym at least 3-4 times a week. I feel like I need to tone up a little after my Christmas splurge on chocolate and roast dinners :D
  • Blog more. I have been a little slack with my blog, it will soon be the 1 year anniversary of my blog and I haven't written all that many posts :(. 2014 here I come!
  • Save up for a Macbook Pro and a new camera which has the ability to record video. I have a Nikon D3000 which is amazing and was the first 'proper' camera I ever got, kindly bought for me by my Mum and Dad one Christmas, but I would like a new camera which can record video so I can concentrate on my YouTube a little more. I am also dying to get a Macbook Pro as although my current laptop has served me well for the past few years, it isn't the greatest laptop and can be really chunky and heavy to carry around.

I hope you enjoyed reading this little post, I shall continue to update you guys all year round on my progress on everything I have set myself this year :) and I hope the rest of the year is brilliant for you too!

Thank you for continuing to read my blog posts, I do appreciate everyone who does :) and hopefully you will enjoy what is yet to come, I have a lot of exciting ideas for this year :)

Speak soon my lovelies!

Being a busy bee...

Hello strangers!

Haha I'm only kidding, I have returned from my extremely long break from blogging.

I am sorry I haven't written in a while, I'm going to try and get going again as I really miss it, as well as making YouTube videos. Basically if any of you have read my post about University (which you can find here) I was uhming and ahing about it for ages until I eventually decided in August that I was going to drop out. EEK! Scary I know. But it turns out it was the best decision I ever made, and I am so much more happy now!

I spent the last 3 months working in a jewellery shop which was an amazing experience, but that's now over and I am on the hunt for something else. So at the minute, I have some time that I can spend blogging and catching up with all my favourite beauty and fashion bloggers!

So I shall end this little catch up post here, but I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year :) and you shall hear from me soon!!
